Hydrabrasion is a gentle cleansing and exfoliating treatment. It is much more delicate than microdermabrasion which is why it can be used by most of people. What is hydrobrasion, who is it intended for and what are its contraindications? What are the effects of the treatment?

What is hydrobrasion?

Hydrobrasion is a relatively new cosmetic procedure. It is a less invasive version of microdermabrasion as it has a similar principle of operation, hence the name ‘hydro microdermabrasion’.

The treatment is performed with a diamond tip with different strength. The size should be adjusted to the thickness of the skin that is to be exfoliated. The right size is chosen by a technician. It’s best to show up already without any make-up on. The treatment begins when the technician thoroughly cleanses the skin, then the dead skin is removed. The last step is the hydrobrasion itself. After exfoliating, the skin is treated with physiological saline, which gives a cooling and soothing effect at the same time reducing the pain. The technician slowly exfoliates every part of the skin leaving it thoroughly cleansed.

Hydrobrasion takes from 30 to 60 minutes. After the treatment there might be some redness experienced for 2 days, so it’s better not to plan a visit before an important night out. For about a week afterwards, you should apply a cream with SPF 15 (it is a minimum) regardless of the weather. One treatment leaves the skin cleansed, exfoliated and lubricated. It is recommended to take from 3 to 7 treatments at intervals of two and three weeks. Hydrobrasion can be performed on various parts of the body, especially on the face, neck, cleavage and back.

Hydrobrasion and other treatments

After the treatment,  is a good idea to buy a moisturising or regenerating mask because their ingredients will be better absorbed by freshly exfoliated skin. The treatment can be combined with other cosmetic procedures.

Hydrobrasion – for whom?

Hydrobrasion is recommended for those who need to have their skin intensively exfoliated. Such skin is moisturised, smoothed, and radiant. Also, its colour is significantly improved. Hydrobrasion is suitable for many types of skin: dry, normal, oily, acne and souperose. The treatment can be performed at any time of the year.
