beauty.jpgA trip to the SPA is really a trip to health, beauty and spiritual balance. Unfortunately, it is not always possible to visit the spa whenever we feel the need. We often live in such a hurry that in order to maintain the harmony between how we feel and what we look like – we would have to visit SPA centres every week or even more often. Since we cannot go to the SPA so often … let’s invite it home! Here is a simple way to relax, renew and regenerate in the comfort of your own home.

What is SPA?

The term SPA from Latin Sanitas per aquam – means “health through water”. In social awareness, it is not only associated with thermal springs and health resorts. Today, SPA is defined as any relaxing baths that do not only serve to wash and cleanse the body but above all – relax.

SPA is a place where there is no hurry. It’s a series of activities that are designed to relax and make you feel comfortable. SPA is the time when you can let go all bad thoughts and focus on nice things and sensations. SPA serves to maintain health, beauty and your well-being. It’s more than just a bubble bath. It requires the right climate, decor and mood. How to achieve all this in your own home?

How to prepare a SPA at home?

In addition to a free evening, bathtub and hot water, you also need gadgets that will create the right mood. Sensual, scented oils and an oil burner, candlelight, joss stick, romantic music, soft light, fragrant bath salts … all this builds a mood and makes you relax easily after a long and hard day. Many people also use aromatic infusions of herbs, iced tea or other beverages for bathing.

At-home SPA step by step

  1. Prepare candles, essential oils and oil burners. If you don’t have one, you can pour a few drops of oil to your bath – the scent will fill in the entire bathroom and the oil will additionally take care of your skin. Make sure to choose oils with mild, relaxing scent. However, if your aim is to nourish the skin during the bath – add a bit of olive oil, argan oil or sweet almond oil to your tub. With cellulite-affected skin, you can supplement the bath with a few drops of essental grapefruit oil.
  2. No bubbles, no fun! Add some a fragrant bubble bath to the bathtub and immerse yourself in the soft foam. If you have a special bathtub cushion at home – take it with you, rest your head on it and close your eyes. Listen to music and try to relax.
  3. Bath salts are a real boon of minerals, amino acids and a range of active substances valuable for the skin. Add a bit of it to the water and rest, remembering not let the water get too cold.
  4. The right water temperature is of great importance- too cold bath will stimulate you instead of relaxing, which is why the optimal temperature of water in SPA is about 30-38 degrees Celsius.
  5. Time for beauty treatments. Reach for the body scrub (you can make your own, a mixture of salt and shea butter or cocoa butter). Gently yet firmly massage the whole body, starting from the feet and going upwards to the arms and neck.
  6. After the bath, you can do a massage – for this purpose, use a special, natural oil or a candle massage.
  7. Dry your body, wash your face with a toner, apply your favourite cream and … do not go straight to everyday matters. Put on your bathrobe, make an aromatic tea, reach for a book or turn on your favourite TV series. Try to maintain a state of relaxation and harmony as long as possible.
